Our banjo player,
Dennis Frederick went to high school with rock icons Leon Russell and David Gates in Tulsa.  He played in a band with them both!
Bluegrass star and former member of Hot Rize, Tim O'Brien bought Erik Brunvand a beer in New York City. .
David LaFlamme of It's A Beautiful Day is the cousin of Bill Thomas.
Peter Netka played in bands with Utah Phillips, Tut Taylor and Curtis Burch (AKA Dr. Dobro)
Mandolin player Kevin Jones once stayed in Chris Hillman's house in Boulder, Colorado while Mr. Hillman was not there.
In 1972 or perhaps 1973
Ron Rood carried out groceries for Barbara Mandrell and loaded them into her tour bus. He also rode a chairlift at Vail, Colorado with Oprah.
The logo used by
BTO (Bachman, Turner Overdrive) was designed by Brad Woverton, the same Brad Woverton that designed the famous Lab Dogs logo.

Lab Dogs Favorite Fans
Joel Boomgarden and Shannon Arnold are hereby recognized as "Favorite Fans" by the Lab Dogs...They come to many of our shows and are always - well most of the time - a delight.  Both are archaeologists but more importantly, Shannon is learning to play the banjo.  Thanks for supporting the Lab Dogs and as soon as we have something to give you as a reward, we will.
Frequently Asked Questions About the Lab Dogs Bluegrass Band:

1.
Hey,what is a Lab Dog?
Well, the Lab Dogs started a number of years ago by practicing in a basement laboratory at the State Archaeologist Office...and we all like dogs.....now our members include two archaeologists, a computer scientist (works in a lab) a retired judge (he's been to a lab) a retired computer guy (his computers ended up in labs) and a contractor (he's thought about a lab).

2.
What kind of music do you play?  Oh, mostly bluegrass with some rock and roll and folkie sorts of stuff thrown in.  We like country and western music and we are the originators of "Hick Hop."

3.
Why two guitars in this band? Oh, there is only one, the guitar Ron has does not have any strings on his.

4.
What are some of the Lab Dog's favorite foods? BBQ, Pizza, Yak Meat, Salad, Custard, Yogurt, Beer, Whiskey, Bread, Roots, Bone Marrow, Wine, Cheese and Grapefruit.
